About Tales of Our Times

Tales of our Times is a not for profit initiative run by qualified teacher trainer Stephanie Bradley as a way of bringing her skills as a facilitator and storyteller, and the experiences and creativity developed during her several years involvement with the Transition Movement and the Transition Tales project, to a wider audience.

Amongst its current projects are:

  • the book of the tales of 2010, collected on a 6 month storywalk around England in a pair of red flip flops,
  • the Quest (a interactive community card game and a workshop),
  • teacher training CPD days in Transition Tales,
  • storytelling performances and workshops,
  • commissions for personalized tales, poems and soul paintings.
  • Coming next … the online version of the Quest and a story walk for young people.

About Steph Bradley

Steph trained as a primary school teacher in the English Lakes, before taking to the sea, crewing on a yacht, and living in Brazil for 14 years where she taught all ages from 4-80 and trained teachers to teach English, designing and facilitating her own courses and those of Cambridge University. She has developed and implemented teaching materials and curricula, working as a consultant to private language schools in Brazil, and as Director of Studies for successful summer language schools for children and teens all over the UK.

She has been an active member of the TTT (Transition Town Totnes) Education Group since 2007 when she received funding to run the first ever TTT Youth Event (an interactive music festival for 11-18 yr olds), is facilitator of the Transition Tales project, and is passionate about the inclusion of young people in the building of strong local community.

From 2008 – 2011 Steph was Training Coordinator for the Transition Network http://www.transitionnetwork.org, taking 6 months out in 2010 to walk around England collecting the tales of over 100 transition initiatives.

Nowadays she can be found gazing at the wonders in our hedgerows as she walks the lanes of South Devon, writing voraciously from her little whitewashed cottage in the heart of the tiny community minded village of Rattery, and dancing her heart and soul out with the magical 5 rhythms community of Totnes.
